Xuan paper, also known as "rice paper" (although it is mainly composed of tree bark, straw, and bamboo pulp), is the canvas for creating artworks in the orient. It has World Heritage status, is characterised by its softness, resistance, capacity to absorb water and ink, and by its ability to be folded multiple times without tearing. Dragon Art recommends semicooked Xuan paper, that is to say, Chinese paper that has been treated with alum of potassium via a number of traditional processes. Being less processed than cooked Xuan paper, it maintains some of its raw Xuan paper characteristics, at the same time being more absorbent than cooked Xuan paper, and the ink dissipates slowly over it, so it is quite flexible and this paper can be used for different painting styles. It is ideal for the daily practise and creations of students. In Dragon Art, you can choose the semicooked Xuan paper from various sizes according to your artistic needs: 138cmx69cm, 69cmx34cm and 33.5cmx24.5cm.
